let's get this show on the road

This is for you Chris! Last night I started to work on transforming our front sitting room with a lovely shade of green paint. It's Debbie Travis's "Delicate Moss", but I got Glidden to tint their paint for me.

Usually I obsess over choosing colours of paint (who me???), but this time I chose quickly saying "this will do". I LOVE it! The biggest problem with the room before was that it was a sea of beige. Beige walls, beige carpet, beige couch (which I adore by the way!!!!).

The coffee table is something I salvaged from our collection of useless items stored in the basement. It used to hold wood for our woodstove. I'm going to paint it a gray green.

Here are some before shots of the room, plus a video, plus some progress pics from last night:

(edited to add that I really dislike those lamps, so I'm going to paint the bases black, and replace the shades. a witty friend of ours dubbed them 'the laura ashley look', and that is NOT what I'm going for)

Looking good...did you go with a new colour or the same green as your last house? I love the coffee table...it looks so pretty!

yes, that is our sitting room. it's so funny, we had such a hard time naming the rooms here. officially you could say it's the "living room", but it feels more like a cozy TV room. what is the family room actually feels more like a livingroom because it's seems a little more formal, i can't see us hanging out in there, but maybe we will once we have the loveseat (on order), and change the paint colour, and have proper lighting....etc. etc. etc.

yes, that's an antique tool box you're seeing, naturally distressed but it was originally a gorgeous aqua colour. i had to put it SOMEWHERE!!

wendy the green is not the same green as our old house, but it sure does look like it. this one is a tad darker, and much warmer, lots of yellow tones. i love it!

Nice couch, and the paint colour works well. You must be so happy to be settled, finally. Have fun decorating!

Hi Heidi,
I'm not sure if we have the same table or not, but the set we own was made in Quebec and indeed, looks so much better painted. A bugger of a job, though...
