bulkheads

I'm taking a break from packing. We have bulkheads over the kitchen cabinets in our soon-to-be new house. I found some pics online where people added crown moulding and matched the colour to the cabinets. The kitchen is going to be painted a creamy white, and the walls a nice pale green, an old Martha Stewart colour in fact.

Here's the kitchen we're getting:

Here are some pictures I found online, the progression of a kitchen makeover. Could I do the same???

Cool!! I'm gonna do it. I love yours, but mine will be more simple, only because I'm not as patient as you. I want the quick and easy fix! LOL!

It will make the ceilings seem higher, I looked for the brackets yesterday but they were all out. I will keep looking for them in stock.

did you notice they added mouldings to the bottoms of the cabinets as well. ??? it gives the cabinets a custom look , and takes away from the floating box look, we attached ours with L brackets..

i never noticed that. the only problem with our kitchen is the cabinet are hung lower, plus we're going to have an under-cabinet microwave, though i suppose we could work around it. but i'm wondering if the cabinets are too low.

funny how i never noticed it, but you would!

I love the look because the cabinetry has more impact. Infact would love to do it, but have been forbidden to paint the cabinets. Yes I said FORBIDDEN! Funny how I can take down wall after wall, but talk about painting a little wood and its like I entered a no-fly zone.

jill, jon used to be that way, like painting over wood was sacreligious! i converted him to the painted wood cult though, and now we have peace in our hearts! ;o)

I've been thinking of doing this myself. My cabinets are white and my bulkhead is painted the same yellow on the walls, it ends up looking like one yellow stripe, kind of odd. I'm glad to find your blog, came by way of Just Beachy (your sis). Good luck!
